EA: 175 years of evangelism

Strengthening the UK church for 175 years and counting

Celebrate with us: 175 years of making Jesus known

Dear Peter,

The Evangelical Alliance is 175 years old this year. It’s incredible to think about those who came before us, the giants whose shoulders we stand on.

We are celebrating 175 years of seeking to make Jesus known together: starting in 1846 with 800 evangelical leaders at a meeting in London; through to a Second World War national day of prayer; the launch of TEARFund (The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund) in response to famine and war in 1968; and so many more key moments – through to today, with our 18,000 individual, 3,000 church and 500 organisation members.

I’ve written an article looking forwards and backwards in the latest idea magazine which you can find here. We are so delighted with how the Lord has used the Evangelical Alliance over the years but we are also excited about all the Lord will do in and through us moving forward.

This is why we are pleased to have launched our 175th anniversary appeal. Your support makes a real difference, and I would love it if you would prayerfully consider getting behind this.

Every blessing,

Gavin Calver

175th Anniversary Appeal

The Evangelical Alliance has been in existence since 1846 but rarely has there been a greater need for it to be strong than in the decades lying ahead of us
