So, we got to half term. What did we see happen in the past few weeks? Did God move in new ways, did we see some evidence of the harvest being ready? Are we reaching the lost of Sutton with some good news?
Well, the answer has to be a resounding ‘Yes!’
Primary school bookings have continued to flow in, and, wonderfully, 13 have wanted us to come and deliver Discover Christmas, more than we’ve ever had before. 5 have arranged RE days, and 1 has an Iwonder space for this week. Amazingly, we’ve been able to respond positively to all these requests, and I have to register my thanks once again to our fantastic volunteers who willingly fill gaps and cover for each other so flexibly. Abby and her team have delivered a number of assemblies already, and we’re getting more requests on a weekly basis for us to come in from next term, and we’re convinced we’re seeing even more appetite from them.
Preparations for Easter Experience have moved on at quite a pace, and, for the first time I can remember, we’ve got 3 complete casts already! Schools are also beginning to book in, and I fully anticipate a wonderful series of 3 weeks at the 3 venues coming up.
Our Secondary schools work continues to grow, and we’ve completed 4 LIVE project sessions at Cheam High and Oaks Park, all of which seemed to be extremely well received. Christian Unions are meeting, and lessons are being booked in.
Our finances are not as strong as they were, understandably, but God has still enabled us to provide all our services. Churches and individuals have continued to support us, but additional funding will still need to be secured, and I have applied to several Trusts, praying that each application may fall into the hands of the person who shares our passion to see young souls brought to a saving knowledge of Jesus.
I am starting to plan for our first big event, and, yes, that means the return of Big Church Quiz Night! Looking to next Easter, I want to bring us all together again, utilising Zoom, which we’ve all become experts in now! More details to follow.
And finally, I’ve been reminded that we haven’t met for prayer recently. It’s vital that we do so, and I’ve set a date of Monday 15th November 10am - 11am. These have been remarkably well attended in the past, and I know that meeting this way means people don’t have to work out travel arrangements, and allows folks to gather together who otherwise wouldn’t.
Thank you all for your prayers. Without you, we would not be anywhere near as impactive. God enables and empowers us, through His Holy Spirit, and He responds to the requests of the saints when they ask Him to give us what we need to do this work. I’m also sending a video to every church leader in the borough, asking them to circulate it to their congregation somehow. If you don’t get that chance to see it, ask your church leader where it is!!!! Looking forward to sharing next month even more news about how our Lord is reaching the lost. Simon and the team at SSW
Primary Assemblies - Praise God for 20 schools booked in for assemblies next half term. Several of our regular schools have not booked assemblies since Covid despite our keen invitations! Please pray that these schools would have us back in the new year.
Autumn 2 - We are heading into Autumn 2, a busy term as we continue to deliver RE days and prepare to deliver Discover Christmas in 13 different schools across the borough. Please pray that the children will be blessed, excited and filled with joy as they discover the true message of Christmas.
Volunteers- Please also pray for our wonderful volunteers - that they too will be blessed as they serve God and deliver His word to hundreds of children across the borough.
Secondary Prayer Requests
1) Lessons - We praise God for the LIVE Project lessons we have recently delivered in Cheam High & Oaks Park, all of which have gone really well and we’ve got lots more lessons booked in for after half term too! Please pray they will all go really well and students will engage with the topics and discussions that we will have with them.
2) Kintsugi Hope - Kintsugi Hope - We are really looking forward to launching Kintsugi Hope in Greenshaw High School in November. Please pray that we will get to know the students (and they will get to know us also!) whilst also having good conversations with them.
