Sutton Schoolswork
Prayer Update September 2021

     Director’s Note
Apologies my friends! In the headlong rush of the start of this term, with all the extra activity, I have neglected to keep you all up to date with what you can do to pray for us. It’s a sign that things are incredibly positive, and we have so much to thank our wonderful God for, and I hope I can bring you a little more hope, and encouragement to know that God is at work within the schools of Sutton.

Firstly, we have welcomed our new primary schoolsworker (temporarily covering for Sarah). Her name is Rachel Marlow, and she is most definitely God’s appointed person for the family of SSW. She has already launched into her role, running a day of Iwonder prayer spaces at All Saint’s Carshalton last week, and she is beginning to fill her diary up as schools get going. I’m sure she would welcome a message of welcome from yourselves (

Primary schools have definitely opened up, and we have spent several days managing the requests as they have come in, and we have already booked in a large number of assemblies, and some schools are beginning to run whole school assemblies, which is great to hear. RE days and Iwonder space bookings are not quite as numerous, and we would value prayer for those requests to start flowing in. Discover Christmas, which runs towards the end of term, will also be a wonderful opportunity to present the story of Jesus once more, and we would love to have many schools seeing this as something they would consider, so we would ask for prayer for that to happen too.
And Easter Experience is not far away! We’re hoping to run at all 3 venues, and most of our cast members have told us they can’t wait to take part once again, so plans are beginning to warm up there as well.

And our secondary school work has exploded!
Kintsugi Hope has been organised for Greenshaw, with the intention of starting in the next couple of weeks on Wednesdays. The school have yet to fully confirm it’s all up and running, so we would value prayer that this would come through. Another school has expressed interest in this, to start in the new year, which is fantastic, but means we may become a bit stretched!
We will have 4 Christian Unions to run or assist with, with the one at Harris being completely brand new, and in addition we will continue to encourage the other CUs where we are not involved in the running or organisation, such as Nonsuch and Wilsons.
Cheam High and Oaks Park have booked in 2 LIVE project workshops each, Knife Crime (Personal Choices) and County Lines.
Sutton Grammar and Cheam High have arranged RE lessons.
Two people have come forward to volunteer their help, praise God!
And Simon has been invited to speak at 4 churches already to re-tell the message of SSW, with many who would not have heard of us before.
So, to sum it all up, please pray for….
Rachel Marlow as she launches into her role
Abby and Rachel (and our wonderful volunteers) as they present the good news of the gospel through their assemblies
More RE days and Iwonder spaces to be booked in
Discover Christmas to be booked in
Easter Experience plans to fall into place
CUs to become firmly established and places where pupils can find peace, and somewhere they can hear more about God
Kintsugi Hope to be a flagship project, where we are able to share something of God within small groups of pupils who need to know that there is love in the world
LIVE project workshops and school lessons to give clear messages, and to be an opportunity to show that being a Christian is more than just adopting a code of belief, it is about establishing a kingdom of peace and justice
As we see churches rekindle their meetings in person, we can find ways of reminding, or even telling for the first time, people that SSW exists and needs prayer, physical and financial support.
More volunteers to come forward!
Finances to remain consistently strong, enabling even more young people to hear of our Saviour!
Once again we thank you all for your prayers. Keep going!!!
Simon and all the team at SSW
