Upon my soul, is it really a month since the last update? (No, Simon, you were late with the last one. This one’s actually on time…..) Life with God is never dull, nor is it always the same day after day. He consistently surprises us, often delights us, and continually keeps us on our toes. However, when I review the prayer requests I wrote a few weeks ago, they haven’t changed! We have continued to provide Transit workshops in a small number of primary schools, which have been brilliant (thank you volunteers), Abby and friends have delivered more RE days to the remaining primary schools (again, thank you volunteers), secondary schools are responding to our messages asking for meetings and we have even gone in to start some Christian Union groups up again (thanks God!). And Sara, our secretary summed up our financial position with the line ‘Well, I’ve been able to pay everyone’s wages’. Can’t ask for more than that, really, can we? Our advert for a maternity cover worker has gone out, and we’ve already had a couple of expressions of interest within 2 days so our prayers for clarity and confirmation appear to be appropriate. Kintsugi Hope is drawing interest, and we are really positive about the continued discussion we’ve been having with Greenshaw. They seem very keen to have it in place, but we must ensure that the proper safeguards are all in place before launching it, as providing emotional support for troubled teenagers must be done with care, compassion and the utmost professionalism. We believe this is what the Kintsugi programme delivers, and we are praying that this first venture, getting everything as right as is possible before our first gathering, will mean profit for the kingdom. So, please continue to pray for us. I have listed out last month’s key prayer points again, and added Kintsugi Hope as well, as we still have more Transit, RE days and staff meetings lined up. Several secondary schools have made contact, and we are beginning to plan in delivery for next term. One school has enquired about our LIVE project, which provides workshops aimed at supporting young people with facing the difficult questions of life, and we are praying this will also be taken up by others. We are so grateful to God, and to yourselves. Last few weeks of what has been the most extraordinary year in our schools. God has continued to speak though, and we pray that, when we can go back in to ALL schools, we will be able to re-connect many with the God of hope, compassion and love we all know.
That God will support, sustain and strengthen Sarah and Sean in these early months.
That God will enable Abby to continue to deliver her high-quality workshops, encouraging these young lives to consider the truths of the Gospel, and that God will speak through her.
That God will continue to work through Kate, Beca and the team in delivering Transit workshops in such a way that children hear how God can be with them and help them.
That God will continue to sustain our finances and that they may remain strong enough to deliver this work.
That God will direct SSW to make the right choices about the path to take for this September.
In that vein, that God will direct the advert to reach the eyes of the right person for the role.
1. Praise God for three RE days, 12 iwonder space workshops, three Transit workshops and six Christian Celebration lessons this month! Please pray that God would continue to work in the hearts and lives of the children we have had contact with. 2. Contact with schools - As we begin to contact schools with regard to the next academic year, please pray for a positive and keen response, especially from those schools who we haven’t seen for over a year. -3. Pray for wisdom and guidance as we make plans for the year ahead.
Secondary Prayer Requests
1) Communication with Schools- Praise God that we have had lots of meeting with new teachers and teachers we’ve already worked with, all of which have been really positive - looking forward to September. We have had bookings start to come in which we are really excited for!
2) Kintsugi Hope- There seems to be a real buzz about Kintsugi Hope. We are in the process of talking to a few Schools about how this fits into their pastoral structure. Please pray for these conversations, that they go well and this provides us with the opportunity to support young people in Sutton.
3) Volunteers- As we look forward to September and our diaries are starting to fill up, we recognise that we are fast approaching our capacity as a team. This is due to a number of youth workers, who volunteered with us, who are no longer in Sutton. Please pray that God will stir up in people’s hearts a desire to work with teenagers in the Schools of Sutton. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please let us know!
