Craig’s letter of 30 June

Craig Bowman
Revd Craig Bowman

Dear Friends

This is the last of these weekly letters which I began in Holy Week 2020 shortly after we entered the first lockdown. These letters were intended as a way of helping the dispersed fellowship to feel connected as well as to pass on significant information. I have regularly included a short look at what we would be hearing in the weekly service and hope that this too has helped people feel connected, especially if they have not been able to join the service on the Sunday, either remotely or in person. Most people have received this letter as an email but some have received a hard copy and I am grateful to Nigel Dickinson and others for delivering these. My thanks, too, to Peter Campbell Smith for arranging for the email version to be sent out every week. I am sorry for those who will miss receiving the weekly letter but it was never intended to be a permanent offering and with the numbers sharing in worship in the building increasing we feel this is the right time to discontinue it.

With regard to the Sunday service at St Andrew’s, it was great to have over 50 people present and sharing in worship together last week, many of whom had returned for the first time since last March. It is to be hoped that the number of those joining together will continue to rise as people feel more confident and hear from others how it feels to be together. Of course there are still some restrictions on what we can do but there is also a good sense of hope as we continue on this road to a more familiar place.

I will be at Wallington URC this week and the service at St Andrew’s will be led by Albert and Elizabeth Wood. The service will again be available live on the St Andrew’s YouTube channel from 10.30am and as a recording afterwards.

As we continue our journey out of the pandemic may we continue to support and encourage others who are on the road with us and recognise that the Risen Christ walks with us.

As the warm weather returns let us give thanks for the light and colour that blesses our lives.
