Bible Soc: God is moving in prisons
A prisoner will see a chaplain right at the start of their time in prison. Dominic says he often finds them broken, rejected and desperate for healing and love. You know that nothing heals like the Bible, and that above everything else it’s God’s word that convinces us we’re loved.
Through chaplains like Dominic, you are putting the Bible in the hands of prisoners. Dominic says you’re also helping him run The Bible Course so prisoners can experience the power of Scripture together. He quotes one of his guests on the course, Richard, sharing the difference The Bible Course made for him while he was in prison.
You are making prison somewhere people can encounter God. Read Dominic’s story to discover more of your impact among prisoners.
Supporters of Bible Society who plan to leave a gift in their will gathered at Lambeth Palace last month to learn more about the impact of their generosity. We’d love you to experience the presentations they enjoyed on the Easter story in paintings and on our new domestic outreach programme, including Navigating Trauma. Download the video and slides.
At Big Church Festival this year, Beth, a festivalgoer, said she ‘would totally, ten out of ten recommend the Personal Edition of The Bible Course’. Hear what she had to say about this new opportunity to explore the big story of the Bible at your own pace. Watch Beth.
Around 40 people so far have shared their encouraging thoughts to go in a new booklet, Words of Wisdom. Gillian says she remembers God assuring her he has a thousand ways to answer every prayer. Diana says you can’t hit rock bottom while the everlasting arms are there to catch you. Share your words of wisdom today.

‘I like being 14. It is pretty chilled. But school is a pressure. My GCSE mocks are coming up and there’s a lot of studying in that. That’s the biggest thing in my life. I feel like I should be worried. I know I should do more revision. That’s a constant pressure.
‘My favourite passage from the Bible at the moment is Ezekiel 47.1–12 which is about the stream flowing from the temple. Verse 9 says that “wherever it flows, it will bring life”. I find that really calming.
