UNITED REFORMED CHURCH
News from St Andrew’s
An update from the Church Secretary
An update from the Elders
One or two of our members have asked to hear more about Elders’ discussions and plans for the months ahead in these continuing difficult times. At the meeting earlier this week, Elders reviewed the Sunday worship arrangements over the seven weeks since we have opened the church building as well as considering the weeks and months ahead.
The last weeks have served our members well in that those who are able and want to return to the building have been able to do so and to hear Craig deliver his sermon ‘in person’, and those whose circumstances dictate that they should continue shielding have been able to listen to the whole service either on the phone or via the internet.
Looking ahead Wallington church are holding their first in church service this Sunday (September 13th) and Craig will be there to preach to them. So, over the weeks ahead Craig will preach in St Andrew’s on alternate Sundays with the audio service being played on the other days.
The last quarter of the year usually brings some special services – Harvest, Remembrance Sunday, and Christmas services. Discussions are continuing on what form these might take this year and we will bring you further details in due course.
Our other activities are also now continuing with some house groups meeting by zoom and others in person and the Wednesday morning and persecuted church prayer groups meeting on zoom. If anyone would like any details about these groups or how to join, please do ask me. We have not lost sight of other initiatives that were being considered before lockdown and these will be revisited when circumstances allow.
Church meeting is an important part of church life where we can meet together, discuss initiatives to fulfil our mission and importantly listen and discern God’s will. Sadly, this is not possible at the moment, but rest assured we will convene a church meeting as soon as guidelines allow.
