EA: Thoughts on the Supreme Court judgement

Reflections, resources and events from the Evangelical Alliance

Supreme Court steps in

Dear Peter

Isn’t it true that God wants all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of truth? This is what Paul tells Timothy after he stressed that “petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority”. And this is what Danny Webster, our advocacy and media manager, draws our attention to as he ponders on the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that Boris Johnson’s decision to suspend parliament was unlawful.

In light of these developments, Danny encourages us to intercede for our leaders and all those in authority. And we as an Evangelical Alliance urge you to not limit your prayers, intercession and thanksgiving to government ministers and those within the justice system, but to also include Christian and church leaders, including Gavin Calver who was yesterday commissioned into his new role as CEO of the Evangelical Alliance. Perhaps our prayer series will provide some inspiration.

Separately, on Saturday a day conference entitled ‘Space for All? Preparing Pupils for life in Plural Britain’ is being held for all Christians involved or interested in education. Find out more about the event and register your interest.
