SSW: Prayer requests

Sutton Schoolswork
Prayer Update November 2018

     Directors Note
Another month goes by and I take a look back and wonder just how much blessing can God pour out. We’ve continued to go into primary schools, running assemblies and lessons, and Iwonder spaces, and every time we go in there’s yet another opportunity for that little flame to be lit in a young person’s heart. I’ve been able to meet up with lots of secondary schools and I’ve been delighted with the response. Most of them are genuinely interested in using us, and want us to challenge their young people, and are very happy for us to bring the name of Jesus into the school. I’ve also been able to meet up with several new churches that we haven’t had much link with previously and have been really encouraged by their willingness to get involved. We’ve advertised for a new secondary schools’ worker and have had several requests for the application form, so we’re very excited about the arrival of a new member of our team.

Additionally, I’ve spent a week in Uganda, through my church’s link with Tearfund, and have been simply overwhelmed by the quality and depth of faith I have seen in people who live lives of absolute poverty. My head is still reeling with all the stories I’ve been told and the people I’ve met, and I’m still trying to work out what my own next steps are as a result of my visit!

However, what I do know is that God is alive, present in the lives of many people, both around the world, and in the Borough of Sutton, and I am delighted and privileged to be part of His work. Please pray for continued opportunities to witness, to proclaim the name of Jesus loud and proud in our schools, and for the doors that are currently closed to be blasted open. And please pray for the process of finding our new colleague. This is such a vital role, working in the secondary schools, and we want to find God’s person. Please pray for wisdom in our deliberations, and for those who are filling in their forms!
Bless you for your support, and may God keep you strong!

Primary Prayer Requests

1. Volunteers
Please do continue to pray for volunteers, thanking God for the ones we have who are all amazing but also praying for more. We still need more volunteers for iwonder spaces & Easter Experience and we are also starting to look for young volunteers to help with our year 6 ‘Transit’ workshops next July.

 2. iwonder space
This month we are doing a brand new iwonder space which is based around the theme of light. It will look at things like how we can shine a light to others, how Christians believe Jesus is the light of the world & the good things that are in our lives as well. Please pray for the preparations for this iwonder space, that volunteers will come forward to help & that the space is really useful for the children attending.

3. Discover Christmas
At the end of this month we are starting our Discover Christmas workshops, please pray for smooth preparations/rehearsals/learning of lines, energy over the 2 week period we are taking the workshops into schools & for lots of fun for all those involved, children, teachers & volunteers!

Secondary Prayer Requests

Recruiting a new Secondary worker

                Get Creative

As you see fireworks light up the skies this month please pray for Gods light to continue to shine in our schools and for doors to stay open to the gospel.
