Your special gift:a bookmark made by Christian refugees, which we’ll send to help you pray for the Middle East.
You may remember the ‘n’ symbol was used by ISIS as a threat on the home of Christians in Iraq. Many Christians in the West changed it to their profile picture on social media as a sign of solidarity. And now it has become a symbol of hope for Iraqi refugee women.
You can help refugeeslike Marian by providing the Bible’s life-changing message of hope and to help you pray for them, you’ll receive your own bookmark.
Turning a symbol of hate into hope
Marian is one of thousands who fled Iraq when ISIS swept in with their reign of terror. She reached Jordan where she found the support of a local church, receiving aid and a Bible.
Now, Marian is sewing bookmarks with other Iraqi womenin Jordan as a way to make a living in her new home. Each bookmark is embroidered with the Arabic ‘n’ symbol.
‘Having the ‘n’ symbol we hope will help them [people who receive the bookmarks] to know more about our suffering and what we went through,’ Marian told us.
‘The Bible has affected my life greatly,’ Marian said. ‘As long as we have Christ in our lives we are sure that the future will be a good future.’
