Listen to the testimonies of struggle, disappointment, perseverance, fear and hope.
All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.
In this edition, we’re sharing some of the honest and challenging stories we’re hearing every day from children, families and our church partners during this unprecedented season. Make space to listen to the testimonies of struggle, disappointment, perseverance, fear and hope.
And in the quiet, take a moment to pray again for the poorest of the poor during this unprecedented time. Remember all those whose lives are being shaken by the impact of COVID-19.

Prayers & Stories For You
Testimonies to stir your prayers
We’ve gathered together 15 first-hand testimonies from some of the children, parents and church partners who we serve. From Compassion project staff navigating riots in Honduras to mums making impossible decisions in Rwanda, we’ve asked friends of Compassion to share honestly the challenges and joys they’re facing.
We hope these insightful testimonies inspire you to pray.
Richmond Wandera COVID-19 reflection
Compassion graduate and UK trustee, Richmond Wandera recently led the Compassion UK team in prayer. In this video recording of the devotional time, he shares insightfully and honestly how COVID-19 is impacting his community in Namugongo, Uganda.
Join us in coming alongside Richmond to pray for the most vulnerable children and communities in Uganda, and around the world. And ask for great wisdom for governments and leaders as they seek compassionate and contextualised responses to the current situation.
Pray for children living in Kibera
As Kenya implements social distancing to curb the spread of COVID-19, the restrictions are a challenge for families in Kibera, Africa's largest slum, where physical distance is a luxury. Lift up mums like Dorcas and ask that they are given great strength and provision as they face heart-breaking decisions.
“It has been a difficult two weeks,” shares mum Dorcas who works as a cleaner in Nairobi. We have not been paid for this month since the boss had travelled to India and has been unable to come back.”
“I pleaded with our landlord and paid a partial amount of the rent with money borrowed from a friend."
“While washing hands frequently is paramount to keeping the virus at bay, sometimes water is just not available, or we are forced to make the difficult choice between purchasing water or purchasing food to keep hunger pangs at bay.”
