St Andrew’s has a number of halls and rooms which are available for hire at competitive rates when they are not in use for church activities. They are suitable for one-off events such as meetings, concerts, dinners or parties or for regular use. They are generally available from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 11pm, but sorry, we do not accept bookings for Sundays.
The Aitken Hall
This large hall (15m x 11.4m) can seat 150 when set out for a meeting, or 96 seated at tables of 8 for a meal. There is a large stage (5m x 3.6m) with theatre-style curtains. The floor is hardwood parquet and suitable for dancing or indoor sports. The hall is ideal for childrens’ birthday parties and can accommodate soft play and bouncy castles, but please check with the provider as they will know which models are suitable for this hall.
The audio facilities include several microphone points and facilities to play CDs. There is an induction loop for the hearing-impaired. There is entry from the adjacent car park or from Northey Avenue. The hall floor is marked with lines for badminton. For refreshments there is a kitchen, but we ask that you do not cook on site.
The Miles Hall
This older-style large hall (17m x 10.4m) can seat 150 when set out for a meeting, or 96 seated at tables of 8 for a meal. There is a small raised stage. The floor is hardwood parquet and suitable for dancing or indoor sports.
The audio facilities include several microphone points. There is an induction loop for the hearing-impaired. There is entry from Northey Avenue or from the rest of the premises. For refreshments there is a small kitchen, but we ask that you do not cook on site.
The Tweddle Hall
This large room (11m x 7.3m) can seat 100 when set out for a meeting, or 72 seated at tables of 8 for a meal. The floor is hardwood parquet and suitable for dancing or indoor sports.
The audio facilities include a microphone and inputs for other audio sources. There is an induction loop for the hearing-impaired. Entry is from Northey Avenue via the hallway connecting to the rest of the premises. Either of the kitchens (see above) may be used subject to their not being needed by users of the other halls.
The Choir Vestry
This room (6.5m x 5.5m) is suitable for meetings of up to 20 people seated in rows, or up to 15 around tables. It contains an upright piano.
The church is a large space (28.5m x 10.4m plus side aisles) seating 360 on the ground floor and an additional 150 in a gallery (8m x 10.4m) accessible by stairs. It is available for religious services and is also very suitable for large meetings or concerts, for which the seating may be moved to create space for an orchestra or choir.
There is a Petrof grand piano and a 3-manual Walker pipe organ which are available for performance or practice. The large entrance vestibule may be used as a welcoming area, and there is a small kitchen there with urns for hot drinks and a sink.
The audio facilities include a multi-channel audio mixer, facilities to play CDs and other media, multiple microphone points and other inputs, with fixed speakers and foldback speakers for a band. Video facilities include a video switcher and fixed media projector and screen with inputs from two wall-mounted pan-and-zoom cameras and PC points at the sound desk and the platform area.
The video feed and an audio feed can be fed to a streamer and thence to YouTube or similar in real time.
These facilities may be used by people with appropriate experience, or the church may be able to provide an operator at additional cost.
There is an induction loop for the hearing-impaired and there is a modern multi-scene lighting system which allows, for example, for the audience area to be dimmed during a performance.
The chapel is a small room (5.2m x 4.4m) seating around 20. It is available for religious services and is also suitable for small meetings. There is an upright piano. Access to the chapel is either via the church or from a separate entrance in The Avenue.
Rates vary depending on whether the use is daytime or evening or on the expected number of people, and discounts are given to regular users and for charitable events. The hourly rates for the Miles Hall range from £24 to £35, for the large Aitken Hall from £25 to £37.50 and for the smaller Tweddle Hall from £22 to £25.
Please call us on 020 8642 5000 or email the Church Administrator (see below), for details of availability, to arrange to visit and for a quote for your requirements.
The premises are available from Monday to Saturday from 8am until 11pm. They are not available on Sunday. Chairs and tables are available and included in the hire cost.
Parking on the premises is available for around 20 cars and there is ample on-street parking in the neighbouring streets.
The church is accessible for wheelchairs via a ramp from the street and a further internal ramp connects the church with the halls. The halls are also accessible via a ramp at the halls entrance, which is signposted from the pathway from Northey Avenue to the centre of the campus. A portable ramp is available for access to the halls from the car park. There are accessible toilets in the church vestibule and in the corridor linking the halls.
St Andrew’s allows wine to be served on the premises with a meal or substantial refreshments. No other alcoholic drinks may be consumed in the church or halls. If a charge is being made for the wine, either directly or incorporated in a ticket price, or in certain circumstances if your event includes the playing of live or recorded music or dancing you will have to send a Temporary Event Notice to the London Borough of Sutton and other authorities well in advance of the event.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.
St Andrew’s reserves the right to accept bookings only from organisations and individuals whose views are sympathetic to its Christian ethos and values.
