UNITED REFORMED CHURCH

Your giving and our finances

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NIV

Our income and spending

We make no charge for being a member of St Andrew’s or for attending our Sunday morning services.

However, we have staff to pay and buildings to maintain, and we make a substantial annual payment to the United Reformed Church centrally to provide us with a minister and other services and to help other churches in less fortunate parts of the country.

We also fulfill our mission to others by supporting missionaries and giving to a number of local, national and international organisations, individuals and charities which share our goals.

If you would like to more about how we raise and spend funds you can see our latest accounts here, and if you have any questions please

Regular giving

We ask all our members to give what they can afford and to do so regularly if they can. There are several ways in which you can do this:

By bank standing order

Many of our members give monthly or quarterly by standing order. If you would like to join them, you can probably set it up online to credit:

  • St Andrew’s United Reformed Church Charity
  • Sort code: 20-84-17
  • Account no: 60774219
  • Reference: your name (eg JSMITH)

If you do that can you pleaseto let him know that you have done so and to tell him the reference you have used?

If you prefer, you can complete this standing order form on paper and return it to the treasurer in person or via the church office.

You may of course amend or cancel your standing order at any time.

Standing order is the only payment method where the church gets the full value of your payment. Cash, cheques and card payments incur bank charges which we have to pay.

In cash or cheque in the offering plate

At every Sunday service the stewards pass round a plate in which you may place your offering. While we are grateful for every penny we receive, if you are a taxpayer we ask you to consider one of the other methods which will allow us to reclaim some of the tax you have paid on your offering.

By debit or credit card

You can give by card at any time by clicking the Donate button in the menu on the left.accessed by the ≡ symbol above right. You can also give by card in the church: there is a contactless or chip-and-PIN card reader at the sound desk.

By charity voucher

We are a registered charity and can therefore accept vouchers from CAF, Stewardship and other similar agencies. These bodies collect the Gift Aid and add it - less some charges - to your donation, so the church cannot claim Gift Aid again.

Do you pay UK income or capital gains tax?

If so, under the Gift Aid scheme we can claim an additional sum from HMRC if you complete this form. There is no cost to you, and if you are a higher rate taxpayer you may be able to claim additional tax relief.
