Bible Soc: Support to detainees
Revd Patrick Wright is an amazing man. Working day in, day out at Heathrow’s Immigration Removal Centre, he’s providing emotional and spiritual support to detainees awaiting deportation.
‘I see this as a mission field, a place that God has called me to,’ says Patrick. ‘My role is to impart hope. And the Bible is full of hopeful stories: my favourite is the story of Joseph, where at the end he is able to look back and say, “God was in it.”’
We’re proud to be supporting Patrick and his team by supplying Bibles in various languages.
You can read some of the heartrending stories of detainees at the centre; from a Christian whose faith has been strengthened through his ordeal to a man from a Muslim background who met Jesus in a dream.
We’re only able to work with Patrick because of our amazing supporters. If you’re among them, thank you! To find out more about supporting our work at home and overseas, visit our website.
